Some weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me a curious question, “Where can I find these beautiful dishes that I see on dishesonly.com?” I then started thinking of locations that would be suitable to accommodate our products. After some searching, my dearest friends, I am happy to inform you that, starting today, you can find some of our most elegant and exclusive dinner sets at Dordas Flowers, a charming shop in the center of Rome. If some of you don’t know Dordas yet, let me introduce him. Mr. Dordas is one of the very few top floral designers in Rome. Everybody knows Marsala has been selected as Pantone Color of the Year 2015. The choice of this color is motivated by Leitrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute as following: “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. It is a subtly seductive shade that draws us into its embracing warmth”. Let’s discover together this beautiful color and some tips in order to create the perfect match with your tableware! Marsala is a red vinous color that can be declined in many nuances: bordeaux, burgundy, grenade, pomegranate. It has an intense range of attributes that all together determine a strong personality: full-bodied, vibrant, velvety, warm, elegant. Marsala adds a “natural soul” to Pantone color chips by creating a synesthesia, a strong sensorial contamination: the color takes its name from real objects, from food and in this case from a Sicilian local vine. It inspires a sensorial mix that involves at the same time sight and taste, boosting the communicative power of the color. We can easily say that Marsala is a stylish as well as tasty color. And in the year of the Milan Expo that celebrates food and wine we wonder if that can be just a coincidence! Versatility is another strong quality of this color. Thanks to its earthy yet stylish tones, Marsala has an impressive allure and it can be easily used in beauty, home interiors, design, furnishing and fashion. Appealing both to women and men, it perfectly matches for accessories and apparels. Marsala is a great “ready to use” color for beauty, giving a special highlight for cheeks and a captivating pop of color...

The new trend among food-enthusiasts and design-lovers is “cook & serve”. Many top restaurants worldwide cook & serve their specialties using mini casserole dishes. Whatever the material (usually enamel porcelain, ceramic and cast iron) mini casserole dishes will allow you to amaze your guests by serving them straight out of the kitchen. This is the cook-and-serve philosophy! We at DishesOnly have compiled a list of the trendiest restaurants that appreciate the cook & serve trend. Give a look at their table setting ideas! Cocotte in New York Cocotte, one of the most famous restaurants in Manhattan, proposes a cuisine inspired by the gastronomy of South-West France. It’s an undeniable fact that Rome is a beautiful city. Whether you’re winding your way through the tiny Medieval alleyways of Trastevere, or gazing at the sparkling Tiber from the Ponte Palatino, you’re almost always assured to have an awe-inspiring moment… However, during the summertime, you’re probably sure to experience these moments surrounded by thousands and thousands of map-wielding tourists. As an avid traveller and advocate of “off-the-beaten-path” exploration, I can say without hesitation that the sheer idea of hordes of tourists is enough to send me running for the hills. Quite literally, one saturday a few weeks ago, I did just that. I decided on a whim to take a day trip 2 hours outside of Rome to the beautiful hilltop town of Tarquinia, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Necropolis of Monterozzi. Not only was the town absolutely breathtaking, I was shocked that I was one of the only tourists in sight! Before I begin discussing my day trip, I thought it would be best to provide you with some background details regarding the Ancient Etruscans, the forefathers of the Ancient Romans. Dating back over 2500 years, their homeland Etruria (now what is modern day Tuscany, Umbria, and Northern Lazio) was one of the most powerful kingdoms in the ancient world. Interestingly enough, they shared a very strong cultural connection with the Ancient Greeks, a notion that is clearly visible in their works of art. Additionally, like the Ancient Egyptians, the Etruscans believed in the concept of the afterlife. As a result, they took much care in constructing elaborate tombs with distinctive wall art. When I...

Today, a new online brand goes live: dishesonly.com. You may say: “well, there are thousands of new brands that sprout up every day.” That’s true! However, dishesonly has some features in contrast to the classic e-commerce biz to which we are all accustomed. First of all, I challenge you to think of another website exclusively dedicated to dishes. We’re talking about dishes of every kind, shape, color, and material. But also dishes that are uniquely designed and versatile enough to present, serve, and even cook foods for all occasions: breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, teatime, parties, formal or informal occasions, and snacks with friends. We will strive to inspire you with new ways to present food, giving you precious recipes suitable to be served in a creative way. We will give you tips to make your guests feel special during evenings spent together. We will also tell the stories of our artists. Yes, because here arises another strong feature of dishesonly. 90% of our products are entirely made or decorated by hand by individual artisans or small businesses. Many of them are one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces that stand in bold contrast to the mass-produced items and big brand names that often make our homes all look the same. Love, passion, and hard work are embedded in each product and will add personality and exclusivity on your table. It is very difficult to find two dishes in our collection that are perfectly equal, or without small defects and imperfections that make these objects even more precious. On dishesonly, luxury equals originality. Thanks to a few items of very high quality and harmonious contrasts, we’ve developed a...
